About Me

Hi I am Just a Mom! I am a 37 38 year old mother of two beautiful daughters who are 16 and 9 and wife to a not so bad looking 45 46 year old husband. (By the way Just A Mom, comes from my youngest daughter. She loves to pretend that she is a reporter and one day she “interviewed” me and her closing comment was “And there you have it from Just A Mom!”)

This is my little blog of things I think are funny that happen around me and or usually to me or things that I just want to write about. It’s mine all mine!! If I make just one person have a good day or at least a good minute or so then I have done some good in the world. If I offend anyone, oops sorry please get a funny bone. Life is funny when viewed through Purple Colored Glasses!

Here are some facts about me you might not care to know but are going to find out about anyway:

  • My favorite color is purple.
  • I am a Texan but to my defense I was raised by Yankees
  • My music tastes vary a bit. Example I like Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa,  Rush, The Monkees, The Boomtown Rats, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, to name just a few
  • I like to cook.
  • We have a pet turtle and a pet hamster gerbil.
  • I like sports. Golf, baseball, football and auto racing. And yes I watch them on TV!
  • I like General Hospital.
  • My favorite movie is An Officer and A Gentleman.
  • I love the beach.
  • I love going boating and fishing.
  • I used to have a purple Chevy Caviler that my husband named The Barney Mobile.
  • I met my husband through an on-line dating service because a co-worker dared me to do it.
  • I am on a Get and Stay Healthy Kick. It’s amazing what happens when the doctor scares the crap out of ya!
  • I ride my bike 5 days a week for relaxation and for exercise.
  • I no longer drink alcohol.
  • I no longer smoke. (I smoked 3 packs a day for 20 years!)
  • I play the guitar, the drums, and the keyboard a little bit but I will not play in front of other people.
  • I like to sing.
  • I hate to dance. Unfortunately my husband loves to dance.
  • I like to snow ski.
  • I like camping.
  • I like bowling.

The Color Purple

Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Purple is associated with royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It conveys wealth and extravagance. Purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic.

According to surveys, almost 75 percent of pre-adolescent children prefer purple to all other colors. Purple is a very rare color in nature; some people consider it to be artificial.

Light purple is a good choice for a feminine design. You can use bright purple when promoting children’s products.

Light purple evokes romantic and nostalgic feelings.
Dark purple evokes gloom and sad feelings. It can cause frustration.

(I think this pretty much describes me!! Just Kidding I think!)

When my daughter was young, purple was her favorite color. I love “An Officer and a Gentleman” I have seen it so many times, I can’t count how many. We are big Nascar fans. My wasband (ex-husband) takes my daughter to Loudon NH twice a year. It’s a daddy and daughter thing.

I’ll be back. I’ve added you to my blogroll.

When I was 10 or 12, I convinced my Mom to paint my bedroom lavender. As a surprise, she bought me a purple bedspread and my grandma made me a purple pillow to go with it. Purple makes me all warm and fuzzy because of it. I still have fond memories of that room! :)

Hi Purple Colored Glasses,

I have been reading your blog for a while and I saw a while ago you posted the Mom Song by Anita Renfroe to William Tell’s Overture (I know hilarious!) anyway, I run a parenting blog written by teen’s for the kid’s perspective on parenting called OnTeensToday.com. We made a kid’s version of the song. I was wondering if you would check it out?

http://www.onteenstoday.com/2008/12/02/the-mom-song-kids-response-humor-sung-to-william-tells-overture/

We are all about getting kid’s voices heard and think this is a funny way to do it, we would be so appreciative of any posts of it you would be willing to do. We would also love to maybe have you guest post on our blog or do some link love sharing…we are all about spreading positive family values. Please let us know!

u didn’t mention how you felt about swearing…I’m prone to it but want to mind my p’s and q’s and f’s when visiting other people’s blog unless of course they are prone to swearing too :) ….not mentioning no names but I see a couple of them on your blogroll!!!….and they are my best buddies!

Let’s put it this way, I grew up in a Navy family! I think my first word was F#@% but I have gotten a little bit better since I have kids of my own now. Why just the other day my youngest daughter screamed out “Son of a Banded Legged Murphy!” It made me so proud!
