Question of the week: What seems to be your busiest month?
For me October is always busy for some unknown reason! It seems like every weekend we have something going on! Trust me I am thankful for having all of these activities and I thank the big man upstairs daily, but I am actually looking forward to November!

Question of the week: Do you read the Obituaries?
The above cartoon is perfect for me! Ever since I can remember on Sundays I always read the paper. When I was a kid my mom did the same. I used to make fun of her because she always read the obituaries! Well now the tables have turned on me. Last Sunday I was reading the newspaper and my oldest daughter looked over my shoulder and said, “Don’t worry mom you’re not in there this week!” Yep, you guessed it I was reading the obituaries! I have no clue when I started but I now read the darn obituaries!

Question of the week: When do you plan dinner?
I have a bad habit of waking up in the morning and just staring into my fridge hoping something will pop out at me and say “Cook ME for dinner!”
I am going to try and start actually planning my meals. I have two fears with meal planning. The first fear is that once I post a meal plan then I am committed to it. My second fear is that if I post my meal plan nobody will show up for dinner!

Question of the week: Does your house say “Welcome Home, sit down and relax” or “Welcome to our Museum, we hope you enjoy the tour”?
My house definitely says “Welcome Home, sit down and relax!” My house is by no means messy but you can tell I have kids that is for sure!
I walked into a neighbor’s house the other day and I was afraid to move around! The house was absolutely perfect with everything in it’s place. Even if I didn’t have kids I don’t think I could live like that!

Question of the week: What is the stupidest thing you or your kids have ever gotten in trouble for at school?
My 10 year old started school last Thursday. Monday afternoon her class was the last class dismissed from school. She hopped in the car and she had the “we got in trouble” smirk going on. I asked her why they were the last class out and she started laughing. Apparently at lunch they were singing inappropriate songs so they were held back for 5 minutes. I asked her what they were singing and she said they were singing Low by Flo-Rida. The next time they get an after school detention!

Question of the week: Is there a certain event (birthday, anniversary, etc.) in your life that you just can’t remember?
Yesterday evening I walked into my kitchen to start dinner. On my kitchen island stood a vase with a dozen red roses. I immediately said “Oh, Crap!” and then I heard my husband laughing . He said “You forgot again didn’t you?”
Yep, I forgot my church wedding anniversary AGAIN! I even did a post on this last year! I never remember this date for some reason. I went and wrote it down on my calendar for next. Hopefully I will not have to write another post like this again!

Question of the week: Do you (or did you) ease your kids into the back to school schedule of waking up early in the morning or just let it come as a big shock come the first day of school?
My youngest daughter goes back to school next Thursday so here at my house we have started Back to School Boot-camp this week. This week I have started making my 10 year old go to bed 15 minutes earlier each night and waking up 15 minutes earlier. We are up to waking up at 7:30 right now and by next Thursday we need to be waking up at 6!
I can’t really control when the 17 year goes to bed anymore but I have invoked an “All is Quiet Upstairs” rule at 8:30pm. I have also started waking her up at the same time the younger one gets up. She goes back to school two weeks later than her little sister and she is pissed that I am waking her up so early.
I am finding it rather fun myself! This morning my youngest didn’t talk to me for an hour and the oldest one mumbled a few words under her breath and she better hope I don’t figure out what she said!

Question of the week: When you were in school did you ever make up a rhyme or little saying to remember something?
My youngest daughter made the mistake of asking me what year Christopher Columbus discovered America the other day. I told her:
In 1492 Columbus was a Jew, He sat on the grass, Which tickled his ass, in 1492.My mother told me that little rhyme when I was a kid and it is the only way I can remember when Columbus discovered America.
I use Never Eat Shredded Wheat to remember North, East, South and West. Another one I have is My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas for Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto.

Question of the week: Beatles or Rolling Stones?
I would have to pick the Beatles myself. The first song I learned how to play on my guitar was Day Tripper. I remember in 5th grade music class we sang The Yellow Submarine and all my classmates were shocked that I knew all the words without having to look in the book. My favorite Beatles song is Let it Be.
I did see the Rolling Stones in concert back in 1998 and they were awesome! They have certainly stood the test of time.

Question of the week: Who’s poster did you have hanging up in your school locker or your room when you were a teen?
A friend’s locker in 9th grade with C.Thomas Howell and Corey Hart posters.
When I was a teen I loved Duran Duran and C. Thomas Howell. My room was plastered in posters of them.
My oldest daughter has posters of Twilight all over her room. My youngest daughter has Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers on her walls.

Question of the week: Cake or Pie? What flavor?
This is one of those “Great Debates” in my house! Cake or Pie? I love Angel Food Cake drizzled with strawberries. I am not too fond of cake with a bunch of icing on it. My other favorite cakes are Italian Cream Cake and any type of Cheese Cake.
As for pie, I could take it or leave it. I do like a good warm Cherry pie and on Thanksgiving I have to have a Mince Meat pie.

Question of the week: What is your favorite kitchen gadget?
I will openly admit that I have things in my kitchen that I have never, ever used! In my defense most of these unused kitchen gadgets I did not buy myself. I have a cappuccino machine (never used), a bread machine (used very rarely), vacuum food sealer (used only when we process meat), the list could go on and on!
My favorite kitchen gadget is a cast iron reversible grill griddle that I paid $20 for. It is a little bit of a pain to clean but other than that I love it!
My most used kitchen gadget is what I call a Lazy Husband.

Question of the week: When you die, do you want to be buried or cremated? Do you want a big service or just a small one?
In the past year I have been to way too many funerals for my liking. But it has made me step back and think about what I would like to have happen when my time comes.
My mother was very adamant about being cremated and having her ashes spread out by Block Island. I honored that wish, kinda, sorta. We had her cremated but we spread her ashes in New London. I figured she could swim the rest of the way. She would have been laughing right along with me!
My father planned his entire funeral himself. Mainly because none of his kids were talking to him! He had made plans to have his body flown to New Hampshire and he was buried next to his father. He picked out his own casket and headstone. He planned a graveside service and even had military honors planned out.
I have told my kids and husband that I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread by the beach. They can plan the rest. If they want a Mass or a big service for themselves then they can go for it!

If it is not lightening I love to walk in the rain. I am the strange mom on the block who lets her kids get in their swimsuits and go outside to play in the rain. If it is lightening I love to play board games.

Question of the week: Do you do anything special for Memorial Day Weekend?
In my house, Sunday of Memorial weekend is spent inside watching the Indianapolis 500. To us it is bigger than the Super Bowl!
Memorial weekend is also the first time our neighborhood pool opens for the summer so we always end up at the pool at some point of the weekend.
