Return of Chris the Mouse

Several years ago my youngest daughter came to me and asked why she didn’t have an Elf that visits her. Some fool had introduced her to Elf On A Shelf. To this day we are still trying to figure out which parent to hang for this atrocity! That year there was not a single Elf On A Shelf to be found in my area and so Chris the Mouse was born.
As with all kids, my daughter grew up and Chris the Mouse stopped coming down to Texas on his Christmas vacation. That was until last night.
Sadly the past few years have not been good for him. I found out that Santa had to cut his labor force due to Obama Care and well, Chris the Mouse has not handled it well. He has turned to drinking and apparently he doesn’t handle his booze well. I don’t want to be around when he finds out that the severance pay he got is nothing but a freaking candy bar!

All Good Things Must Come To An End

Chris the Mouse enjoyed his last couple of days at our house by playing Chutes and Ladders and leaving more candy around our house. He went back home to the North Pole with Santa on Christmas Eve. He will be missed but we know he is needed very much to clean up after the elves in Santa’s Workshop!

The Adventure Continues

Chris the Mouse has continued on his little adventure exploring our house at night. Last week we found him reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to one of his new little friends, eating candy canes as he put together our Christmas Countdown for us, looking at our Nativity Scene and sitting in an empty flower vase! One night he even made himself a cup of hot chocolate in MY favorite cup! The nerve of him! That same night he made a marshmallow man as well. He has hung from our dinning room lights, played with the race track that we set up for Christmas and last night we found him playing pool!

I can’t believe all the stuff this little mouse finds to do around here. No really, because my girls are always complaining that they are bored and have nothing to do! I am just glad that Chris the Mouse is having a great time and I love that he is so quiet at night. Just quiet as a mouse!

Not A Creature Was Stirring…

Except Chris the Mouse! He has had an eventful week at our house. He brought the girls plenty of treats and he has had his share of running around at night!

I know Chris the Mouse is on vacation, but it sure would be nice if he would clean my house one night while he is up running around like crazy!

Welcome Back Chris

Last week my youngest daughter made a plea to Santa to bring Chris the Mouse back to our house. She set up her Elf Bed, put out popcorn, cookies and crackers, because “that’s what Chris likes to eat,” and wrote a nice letter to Santa! She couldn’t wait until morning. This was almost as big as Christmas Eve!

The next morning she flew downstairs to see if Chris had arrived. The look on her face was great when she saw Chris. All morning long she talked about all the things that she and Chris were going to do. My older daughter came into the kitchen and said, “Mom, wasn’t I her age when I found out about Santa? I think I was! She is getting worse instead of better!” I told her if she didn’t watch out Chris wasn’t going to leave her anything except little mouse droppings!

My daughter took Chris to school with her the first day she had him. He stayed in her locker box all day. My daughter swears that he cleaned her and her friend’s locker out. I swear I did not go up to her school! Pinky promise!

Chris spent his first night with us sleeping in his little Elf Bed. At least that’s where my youngest daughter put him to bed! When she woke up the next morning she found Chris sitting at a picnic table with 2 candy bars in front of it. He was even nice enough to leave one for the non-believing older sister!

The next night my daughter once again put him to sleep in his bed and once again he didn’t stay there! I am starting to think he has something against sleeping in his special Elf Bed because we found him sleeping in the Doll House!

The following night my daughter decided that Chris needed to sleep with her. He apparently woke up during the night and left some little miniature chocolate bars on the stairs. My youngest daughter was nice and shared them with her sister. I told the Non-Believer to “be careful of the chocolates because he might have made them himself!”

Hopefully Chris will start to sleep a little more at night next week but I am not going to hold my breath!

The Return Of Chris The Mouse

Well it’s that time of year again. Yep, it’s Christmas time! Time to put up the tree, hang the lights outside, shop till you drop, drink Egg Nog and be Merry! Oh, and I almost forgot, well actually I was hoping my youngest wouldn’t remember, it’s time for Chris the Mouse to come back for a visit!

(If you would like to read his adventures from last year click here.)

My daughter still has her “Elf Bed” from last year and since we don’t have a Christmas Tree up yet she made a drawing of a tree to hang somewhere to put the bed under! She tried to set it all up last week but trying to bide some time for myself, I told her Santa won’t let the Elves or Chris the Mouse leave the workshop until at least December 1st.

This morning she remembered that it was December 1st! She was all happy that Chris would be able to come back tonight! Why can’t kids have crappy memories like their parents!

So, like the stupid ass great mother that I am, I have typed up Santa’s Letter for the arrival of Chris the Mouse tonight.

I will try to give a weekly update on the “Great Adventures of Chris the Mouse!”

Just Another Night With Chris The Mouse

Chris has been very busy the past two nights. One night he decided to get the box of Gingerbread men cookies and let them have a party at our Gingerbread house. That night he slept in the chandelier over the dining room table, no doubt to make sure the party didn’t get out of hand.

Last night my daughter decided to sleep with Chris. He decided to get up and get a bowl of popcorn and take it up to my daughter’s room. He also left two Hershey bars on the stair railing.

My daughter has proclaimed the only thing she wants for Christmas is for Chris to be able to stay. I have told her that Chris is very important up at the North Pole. If he is not there to clean the floors then the elves have to clean it which will slow down toy production for next year. She told me that Mrs. Claus could clean the floors. I told her that if Mrs. Claus cleans the floor then she won’t be able to make cookies for Santa and he will lose weight. Everyone knows you can’t have a skinny Santa!

I think she has come to grips with the fact that Chris is needed back home. I am sure once Santa comes she will be fine.

The Adventures of Chris The Mouse

Chris the Christmas Mouse

Chris the Christmas Mouse

I thought I would give an update on Chris the Mouse. Saturday my daughter just had to call her friend from school to tell her all about her mouse. She was just amazed that Santa let his mouse leave the North Pole! Her school friend ended up coming over that afternoon with her own Elf in tow.

I got to hear all about the Elf. My favorite story was when my daughter’s friend said that they were the only two with a real Elf and Mouse from Santa. According to her “the other kids who had them at school were not from Santa. Their parents bought them and even wrote the notes themselves!”

While my daughter’s friend was here her Elf and Chris the Mouse had some fun together. They went and stole some cookies from the cookie jar and left a mess under the Christmas tree. They also left a pack of gum for the girls to have.

That Saturday night was Chris’ first night with us. He decided to stay up all night on the couch and play the Gameboy. He also made himself a cup of my favorite hot chocolate and even had the nerve to use my special mug!

Last night Chris decided to play on the Foosball table. He also got markers, tape and scissors out to make gift tags for the candy bars he left for the kids.

Hopefully Chris will behave himself for the few remaining days he has left on his visit.

Chris The Christmas Mouse

Last night Santa dropped off Chris the Christmas mouse to watch over my youngest daughter. I asked my daughter if she was disappointed that Santa didn’t leave an Elf for her and she said: “No way! This is much more special because he never gets to leave the North Pole!”

Chris the Mouse was nice enough to make some Cinnamon rolls for breakfast for all of us. So far so good!

Letter From Santa

Christmas Elves

My youngest daughter came home from school today and built a little bed out of a cardboard box, placed crackers, popcorn, and a bowl of water next to it and wrote a letter to Santa asking for an Elf to come visit her.

I for one have never heard of the Magic Elf and I am going to kill a few parents that started this at my daughter’s school! Apparently, this Elf comes between Thanksgiving and Christmas once his work at the North Pole is complete. During the night he runs around your house and the next day you are supposed to find him. For more info check out Magic Elf Christmas Traditions.

I decided since my daughter went to all the trouble of making a bed for this Elf that I would try to play along. I went on a trek this afternoon to try and find an Elf. Well guess what? When you try to find something that you really need you can’t find it! I instead found a cute little Christmas Mouse that hangs out in Santa’s Toy Workshop. He is Chris the Christmas Mouse and he better work!
