To Gnome Me Is to Love Me

I finally bit the bullet and got a tattoo. This truly fits me! I love the work my tattoo artist did! She did an amazing job!

Gnome Sweet Gnome

I love Gnomes. I currently have 5 gnomes in my garden. For Christmas I received the greatest present ever!!!

It’s a Seasonal Gnome! I can change it’s clothes with the seasons.

I know, I am a nerd.

My Dream Gnome

About two weeks ago I took my daughters down to Galveston to do our traditional “End of Summer Blowout!”

This year we went to the Moody Mansion. We love visiting the old historic homes in Galveston. I think now we only have one more home to visit but it won’t re-open until the Fall of 2011 due to damage from Hurricane Ike.

We took a stroll down on the Historic Strand. The kids played with the life-size chess board and we of course got our traditional dose of candy from the best candy store on earth, The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!

While we were down on the Strand window shopping I found my dream Gnome! If the thing hadn’t cost well over $100 I would have bought the thing right there and then!

Jim Shore is the artist. I love his work! Now I ask you, after seeing this how can you hate Gnomes!

Just Another Day At The Zoo..

I love playing “What If” with my kiddos. My youngest one likes to play with me as well. My oldest one gets VERY FREAKED out which just adds fuel to fire!

The other day I took my daughters to the Zoo. We were walking around by the elephants when I decided to say, “What If… the animals were really watching us instead of us watching them? You know, what if WE are the exhibits?”

Freaked my oldest one out beyond belief. We even had the elephant zookeeper laughing at us! Then my youngest daughter points to a sign that was right next to us:

The other thing my oldest daughter hates is Gnomes! I love my Gnomes. Believe it or not at the Zoo we found not only one but two Gnomes!!

The first Gnome was found in the Reptile exhibit. He was cute and very cheerful and luckily for me there was no snake in the exhibit with him at the time! I hate snakes!!

The second Gnome was found in the Bird exhibit. We found him in an exhibit that was being worked on. I love this little guy! He has pure evil written all over his face. I can almost hear his evil chuckle. Oh, wait, I think that is my inner evil chuckle I am hearing! Can’t you just picture this little guy picking up the hammer that is near him and doing some major damage around him?

I love the Zoo!

Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge (plural hodgepodges):  A collection of miscellaneous things; a jumble.

The above describes my life perfectly the last few weeks! My life has truly been a hodgepodge lately! So in keeping with my hodgepodge life I figured I would write a hodgepodge post!
I like the word hodgepodge, can you tell?
  • A few weeks ago we did our outside Spring Cleaning. We pulled weeds for hours upon hours. We even planted a new pear tree in our backyard.

With all this cleaning up of the yard and flower beds we decided that we needed to give our old buddy Weeder Gnome a new friend. So we found Raker Gnome and added him to our pathetic little flower bed in the backyard.

Now I want to find or make a wooden sign that says: The Good, The Bad and The Gnomely!

  • With Spring comes Spring Break which my 2 girls had last week. The girls and I actually went to the beach one day with some friends of mine. Yes, I actually have friends! It was windy, about 70 degrees and the water was cold at about 63 degrees! My youngest daughter and I were the only two brave enough to go into the water! When we got to the beach we found a leftover sand sculpture from the day before.

Since we had a few little ones with us we decided to move just a little bit further on down the beach away from any leftover sand sculptures!

  • My youngest daughter has been working on a Science Fair Project for the past few weeks. She decided to see which type of liquid a seed would grow better in. She planted sunflower seeds in 4 pots and watered them with tap water, coffee, vinegar and Sprite. Well we have a winner: Coffee made the sunflower seeds sprout the fastest. Tap water came in 2 days later. Sprite grew mold but nothing else and vinegar didn’t do a darn thing

I did not help her at all with her project unless you count paying for the materials and the photos to be printed helping!

  • Along with all the above hodgepodge I have had to juggle softball practice, softball games, work, prom shopping, choir concerts, etc. The list goes on and on. And I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Damn Gnome!

Two months ago we welcomed a cute little bouncing Gnome we named Weeder to our family. I even wrote a post about his grand arrival to our home.

Weeder Gnome on June 30, 2009

I had high hopes that by naming him Weeder he would take care of my little flower bed in our backyard. Boy, was I ever wrong! I think by naming him Weeder her grew the damn weeds bigger and faster!

I guess since Weeder Gnome has failed to take after his name I will be forced to take care of the weeds myself. Damn Gnome!

Gnome Sweet Gnome

Our Gnome

We have a Gnome!

At last, my home has a Gnome! I have been on the Great Gnome search for years now. I would of had one sooner but I am just plain cheap! I found our newest family member for just $3 at our local Hobby Lobby. I guess you could say he is my little clearance Gnome!

My youngest daughter has embraced our little Gnome with open arms. She keeps looking outside at night to see if he comes alive or not! We even went to our local library and checked out a book all about Gnomes. Gnomes are very interesting! If you have time or are just plain bored check out these Gnome Facts.

My oldest daughter on the other hand, is very disturbed about this whole Gnome thing. She ranks Gnomes right up there with clowns! This has only given me more fuel to throw onto the fire! Like I need anymore fuel to throw at her! Every time we walk past the Gnome outside I sing “I ain’t got Gnomebody!” or I say “Ah, Gnome Sweet Gnome!” She does not find my humor very funny but it makes me laugh!

We placed our newest little family member out in our pathetic little flower bed in our backyard. After a day of trying to find him a name my youngest daughter and I, no one else will play along with our little game, have decided to call him Weeder Gnome. I have great hopes that by naming him Weeder he will be nice and weed my poor little flower bed for me! I’ll let you know if he lives up to his name or not!
