This post is going to be about a little bit of everything going on right now. Now, where to start, where to start?
High School = High Money
My oldest daughter is a Senior at or local public high school. She started back to school on August 23rd. She is taking English, Math, Government, Forensics (Science), P.E., Choir, and her Veterinary Technician class. I do not have a problem with a few fees here and there but this year has been the worse I have ever seen. I feel like I am being nickeled and dimed to death! I totally understand the Vet Tech class is a special program and has special fees but something has to give here! This is what I have shelled out to our local high school so far:
Grand total for Fees: $248!!! This does not even count for regular school supplies and classroom supplies! Don’t even mention Homecoming, Senior Pictures, Senior Cap & Gown, Yearbook, or Prom to me right now!!!
Concerts
Every summer we try to go to at least one concert. Last year due to financial reasons we did not get to do this. This year I am making up for it! When we go to concerts we choose ones that are at an outdoor arena called the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. We bring a big blanket and sit in the Lawn Area. It’s a great experience!
This weekend I am going to see John Mayer in concert with Owl City as the opening act. This concert started out as just a mother/oldest daughter concert. Then a few weeks ago when I kicked oldest daughter out of the house I offered to take the lady she stayed with as well as her daughter to the concert for all of their trouble. Then my youngest daughter piped up and wanted to go as well! So now our mother/daughter adventure has turned into a bit of a party! I am looking forward to this concert so much!
The following weekend I am taking my daughters and my youngest daughter’s friend to go see the Jonas Brothers with Demi Lovato/Camp Rock in concert. I am actually looking forward to this concert as well. I am getting a total kick out of the excitement my youngest daughter and her friend have! I am dragging my oldest daughter along as payback for the hell she has put me through in the past few weeks!
More Work Changes
Yesterday the owner of the company I work for called me into her office and asked me if I would be willing to work 2 more days a week. She would like to train me on some of her work so that she can semi-retire. I jumped at the opportunity! This puts me at 5 days a week at about 30 hours. I will still get off work in time to pick up my youngest daughter from school which is awesome!
This also puts me at a comfort level with my home-life issues. I am now in a position to make it on my own if I have to. The weight this lifts off my shoulders is immense! I now have the power!!!!!

Question of the week: What’s in your CD player right now?

Question of the week: Beatles or Rolling Stones?
I would have to pick the Beatles myself. The first song I learned how to play on my guitar was Day Tripper. I remember in 5th grade music class we sang The Yellow Submarine and all my classmates were shocked that I knew all the words without having to look in the book. My favorite Beatles song is Let it Be.
I did see the Rolling Stones in concert back in 1998 and they were awesome! They have certainly stood the test of time.

I am a car singer. Yes, I am one of those crazy people you all probably make fun of who sings in her car. I just can’t help it, if there is music on and I will start singing right along with it!
Yesterday afternoon I pulled into a parking space at my youngest daughter’s school and just as I was about to turn off the car I looked over and there was another mom looking at me and laughing her ass off.
It was a fairly nice day so I had the windows rolled down and of course I had the radio on like I always do. I wasn’t even paying attention to what was playing on the radio, but I of course was singing and singing loud.
Well guess what I was singing?
Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus The Hoedown Throwdown!
Talk about embarrassing!
I am starting to think that I am going to have to declare a no Radio Disney or Disney Channel rule for a week!

Question of the week: Do you listen to your kids music?
I listen to my kids music all the time. Usually if I am in the car with my girls they get to pick the radio station. I even find myself singing along with their songs. My oldest daughter, 16, likes a variety of music from Taylor Swift to Bullet For My Valentine. My youngest daughter, 9, is of course a Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, anything Disney fan.
My husband can’t stand and will not listen to any of their music. He is a firm believer that after his generation all music sucks.
Personally I think I learn a lot about my kids by listening to their music and they get to laugh at me for singing along! Plus they know if they make me mad then I get to torture them with good old 80’s music!

The other morning my girls were getting ready for school and all I heard was them laughing. I went upstairs to see what was so funny at 6 am in the morning!
My 9 year old has her toothbrush ready to do it’s job, but she is laughing to hard to get it into her mouth. My 16 year old, who has tears running down her face, turns to me and says: “It’s all your fault! She is singing one of your stupid songs!”
As the girls were growing up I made up “Stupid Songs” for everything! The song in this case was my “Toothbrush Song.” It is set to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”:
Brush, brush, brush your teeth Every single day. Up and down and all around This is what they say, Hey!I know, stupid, but hey it worked out great for getting both my girls to brush when they were 2. Now it is making them laugh!
My other famous “Stupid Song” was the “Potty Song.” This one was set to the song “Take Me To The River.”:
Take me to the potty, Sit me on the toilet, I gotta go pee, pee, pee, Take me to the potty right now! Plop!Who says music is dead! I am just glad my kids are still laughing at my “Stupid Songs!”

I think it is time for me to start keeping my 15 year old daughter away from her 8 year old sister. My girls like to take their music outside and dance and sing in our backyard. No problem, right? Wrong! The 7 year age difference in my girls is creating a slight problem with this picture lately.
I went out in the backyard to spy on the girls water my flowers the other day and my 8 year old is singing a song at the top of her lungs and dancing. Not the usual Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana music I am used to hearing her sing. Oh no, nothing that simple!
This is the song my innocent little 8 year old was singing, “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry. I asked my sweet, little innocent child what she was singing and she said, “I don’t know, but I like the beat.” I told my 8 year old that the song was not a very good one and I did not want to hear her singing it again. I then turned to my rotten, evil teenager, who was laughing her ass off at her sister, and explained that certain music was off limits to 8 year olds and this song was one of them!
Oh, the fun of raising kids!!

Here is a song Meme:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to. I don’t like playing tag so do it if you want to.
I am stealing Joan’s idea because I like having the videos of all the songs. Here’s my list:
John Mayer – Say
Duran Duran – Box Full of Honey
Colbie Caillat – Bubbly
Taylor Swift – Our Song
Carrie Underwood – All American Girl
Pink – Who Knew
Patti Scialfa – As Long As I (Can Be With You)

Sometimes I walk a little faster In the school hallway Just to get next to you Some days I spend a little extra Time in the morning Dress to impress you Guess you don’t notice I’m unusual |
This is just one of the annoying songs that I have bouncing in my head because of my kids. The worst part is on the way home from dropping off my youngest daughter at school this morning I found myself singing this song! The entire song! By myself! And I knew all the words! I know it’s a sad, sad, life I live!
There is light at the end of the mental ward hallway though, my oldest daughter has come to her senses and has decided that she really likes the new Duran Duran album, Red Carpet Massacre. Being an old Duranie this is a proud moment for me. I told her if they come in concert we are going!
